Honeywell Vent Sanitizing Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Whole-system duct and dryer vent check with before-and-after photos - you see exactly what came out of your vents

Worth knowing

That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Honeywell Vent Sanitizing: The Rockville Owner’s Guide

CleanRun stocks and installs Honeywell-compatible vent sanitizing systems in Rockville for $340-$580 per system, parts and labor included, with same-day scheduling available on most days. We carry the Honeywell UV100E, UV2400U, and compatible aftermarket equivalents on our trucks. Most Rockville homeowners discover their vent sanitizing has failed when they notice musty airflow returning after a previously clean duct run, or when a visible UV indicator light on their air handler has gone dark.

Which Honeywell Models This Applies To

Honeywell’s vent sanitizing line breaks into two series that fit different duct configurations. The UV100E series mounts in the supply plenum (the main distribution box after your air handler) and runs a 16-inch UV-C lamp rated for 9,000 hours. The UV2400U is the higher-output version for systems over 3.5 tons, with a 26-inch lamp and a ballast rated for 120-277V. We’ve replaced both in Rockville homes, particularly in the split-levels near Congressional Plaza where the original flex duct from the 1970s creates dead-air pockets that stress lamp life.

To identify your part, shut power at the breaker and check the lamp label through the viewport or remove the access panel. The lamp part number starts with UV or RUV. The ballast (the electrical driver) has a separate Honeywell model, usually ending in -BALLAST or -E. We stock OEM Honeywell lamps and ballasts, plus aftermarket equivalents from Guardsman that match the 253.7nm UV-C output spec. The aftermarket lamps fit the same mounting clips but run about $40 less. We quote both options in writing before work starts, Haven Standard Clause 1.

Signs Your Honeywell Vent Sanitizing Is Failing

Signs Your Honeywell Vent Sanitizing Is Failing
  • Dark viewport indicator. Honeywell units have a small sight glass or LED that shows blue-violet glow when the lamp is active. If it’s dark while the blower runs, the lamp has burned out or the ballast has failed. Ballast failure is more common in Rockville’s older homes with voltage fluctuation at the panel.
  • Musty odor returning after cleaning. You had the ducts cleaned six months ago but the damp smell is back at the registers. UV-C lamps lose output gradually; at 70% of rated hours they’re still lit but no longer producing germicidal levels. The lamp looks fine but isn’t doing the work.
  • Visible corrosion on the lamp base. The ceramic or plastic base shows brown discoloration or the mounting clips are loose. This happens in high-humidity summers when condensate forms in the plenum. Rockville’s July humidity, especially in homes without dedicated dehumidification, accelerates this.
  • Ballast humming or clicking. A healthy ballast is nearly silent. Clicking means the startup capacitor is failing; continuous humming at a new pitch means it’s over-driving the lamp. Either condition will kill the lamp early and can trip the breaker.
  • System age past 8 years without lamp change. Honeywell rates lamps at 9,000 hours, which is roughly 3-4 years of runtime in a typical Rockville home. We’ve pulled original lamps from 2015 installations that were technically “working” but measured at 40% of effective output. The photo comes first. The price comes after.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Price Range
Honeywell UV lamp replacement (OEM) $340-$420
Honeywell UV lamp replacement (aftermarket equivalent) $290-$370
Ballast replacement with lamp $480-$580
Full sanitizing system (new install, no existing unit) $680-$920

The range depends on three factors: plenum access (tight attic spaces take longer), whether we need to replace mounting hardware corroded by condensate, and if the existing wiring meets current code. Every quote is written and agreed before we touch the panel. The work includes the Documented Photo Record of the plenum interior before and after, delivered as part of your job record. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers both parts and labor. We also stock Lennox, Trane, and Carrier sanitizing components, though this page focuses on Honeywell compatibility.

DIY or Call Us?

There is one safe owner check: verify the viewport indicator with the blower running. If it’s dark, you’ve confirmed the lamp or ballast has failed. Beyond that, we recommend against DIY replacement. The plenum sits downstream of your air handler’s electrical components, and the 120-277V ballast connection requires lockout-tagout procedure. We’ve found homeowners in Rockville who replaced the lamp but left a failing ballast in place; the new lamp burned out in three weeks. The other risk is breaking the quartz lamp during handling, skin contact with the UV-C phosphor coating, or improper sealing that lets conditioned air leak into the attic. If your Honeywell unit is under 8 years old and the lamp alone has failed, we can often swap it in under an hour. Call (240) 255-4519 and we’ll put a written number next to your model number.
